The National Human Rights Commission observed its 16th Foundation Day on the 12th October. It was on this day in 1993 that the NHRC was set up. A cultural programme was organised by the NHRC fraternity at Faridkot House, New Delhi to celebrate the occasion. Addressing a gathering, the Acting Chairperson of NHRC, Justice Shri G.P. Mathur said that the observance of NHRC 's Foundation Day gives an opportunity to take stock of the work done by the Commission in the area of protection and promotion of human rights . It also reminds the future challenges before it. He expressed hope that all the employees of the Commission will respond to these challenges and live up to the reputation of the Commission.
