Mr. Justice G.P. Mathur, Member, National Human Rights Commission, NHRC inaugurated a month long Summer Internship Programme - 2011 of the Commission in New Delhi today.
Addressing the interns, Justice Mathur gave a detailed account of the background and history of the international human rights movement. He also spoke about the human rights as incorporated in the Constitution of India.
Justice Mathur expressed hope that after gaining knowledge during the programme, the interns would work for the protection and promotion of human rights, and spread awareness about these rights through their respective institutions, friends and colleagues.
The aim of the internship programme is to sensitise the young students about the various aspects of human rights issues.
