NHRC seeks report from AP Government on Stone Quarrying in Ambedkar Nagar

Acting on a news report which was telecast on E-TV of the difficulties faced by the residents of Ambedkar Nagar near Warangal, Andhra Pradesh due to a stone quarry, the National Human Rights Commission has asked the District Magistrate, Warangal, Andhra Pradesh to send a factual report.
The TV channel had quoted the residents as complaining that blasting at the quarries takes place any time of the day and at night as well, due to which they are unable to sleep. The students/children also face problems. The blasting of the quarries it was reported had also caused cracks in the houses of the residents and the dust emitting from the stone, blasted by the quarry owners, had caused health hazards to the residents.
The Commission stated if the contents of the report are true, it raises serious issue of violation of human rights and asked a report be sent within two weeks.
