Notice issued to Delhi Government on 'Dengue'
The Commission took suo-motu cognizance of a media report in a national daily "RWAs blame MCD for dengue cases" and sent a copy of that report to the Chief Secretary, Delhi; Secretary, Health, Delhi and Commissioner, Municipal Corporation of Delhi for their comments in three weeks. These directions were issued by the Chairperson, Dr. Justice A.S. Anand on 14th October.
Quoting Dr. K.N. Tiwari, Medical Health Officer, MCD, the news item stated that the toll of dengue patients has risen from 60 to 832. Some Resident Welfare Associations alleged that MCD had not done any fumigation as required in the months of July and August. It was also stated that some private nursing homes and hospitals had refused to admit dengue patients. The Commission noted that these are serious issues of violation of human rights of citizens. In response, the MCD has sought extension of time to submit its report.
