On complaint of ragging NHRC issues notices to the DCP, Central Delhi and Director, Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay Institute for Physically Handicapped

The National Human Rights Commission has issued notices to the Director, Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay Institute for the Physically Handicapped (DDUIPH), New Delhi and the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Central Delhi, calling for reports in a complaint alleging ragging and assault by senior students and police inaction. They have been given two weeks time to respond. The Director of the Institute has been asked to provide adequate protection also to the first year students.
The Complainants, comprised a group of first year students. They have alleged that on the 27th September, 2013, some seniors in their Institute ill-treated and harassed them and when they objected, they were beaten up. They called the police but it did not take any action.
