On NHRC recommendations Chandigarh UT Administration pays Rs. 3 lakh as relief to a victim of gang rape; all five accused police personnel arrested and dismissed from service (27.05.2016)

On the intervention of the National Human Rights Commission, NHRC the Union Territory Administration of Chandigarh has paid Rs. 3 lakh as relief to the victim of gang rape by five constables in Chandigarh Police. All the five accused were arrested and dismissed from service.
The Commission had registered the case on the basis of a complaint on 24th December, 2013 that a girl student of class X had been subjected to gang rape by five police personnel for two months.
In response to the notices of the Commission, it was informed that all the allegations were found true and action had been taken against the guilty police personnel. The Commission was also informed that an FIR No. 507 under Section 341,354, 376, 376(D), 34 IPC and 6 of POCSO Act, 2013 had been registered in police station -11 Chandigarh.
