On stripping of a woman at a police post in Delhi
Media carried reports on the 9th June, 2010 alleging that a woman was forcibly stripped at a Delhi Police post, and asked by the policeman to have sex with her 12 year old son.
The incident was reported to have happened on the 21st May, 2010 in Rajouri Garden police post in the West Delhi. It was alleged that Raghu (12) and Ramesh (10) sons of Mukesh Jha (45) were detained by the police on the charge of theft. The police reportedly also ransacked the house of Mukesh in the Mayapuri area, and thrashed him along with his family members. They were taken to the police post, where one of the Constables allegedly asked his wife to have sex with him. Allegedly the constable further asked her to engage in sex with her 12 year old son.
Considering the contents of media reports as distressing, the Commission observed on the 14th June, 2010 that if these reports were true then it was a serious issue of violation of human rights of the victims, and issued notices to the Delhi Police Commissioner calling for a report in the matter.
