NHRC- Report

The National Human Rights Commission on the directions of the Supreme Court submitted a report to it on the issue of the alleged human rights violations by the Naxalites and the Salwa Judum activists in Chhattisgarh.
The report is based on the inquiry of a Fact Finding Committee set up by the NHRC under the supervision of the Director General (Investigation), Mr. Sunil Krishna. It was set up at the instance of the Supreme Court while hearing a public interest litigation on the allegations of human rights violations by the Naxalites and Salwa Judum activists in Chattisgarh. The inquiry was conducted in two phases amidst hostilities by the Naxalites. The Committee enquired into representative samples of 168 out of the 547 specific allegations made by the petitioners.
