Institute of Management in Government, Thiruvananthapuram ,Kerala conducted a four-day programme on 'Training of Trainers on Human Rights' in collaboration with the NHRC. The training from 17th - 20th September 2007 saw the participation of 22 officers from Police, Prison, Forest, Social Welfare Department and Education. Dr. S.K. Jain, Senior Research Officer (Training) participated as Resource Person from NHRC. A two-day sensitization programme on Human Rights was also conducted from 24th - 25th September 2007 at the same venue.

" A two-day attachment programme for IFS Probationers of 2006 batch with NHRC was conducted in the Commission on September 17 and 18, 2007. Nineteen Probationers attended the programme.


The Probationers were made aware of a member of issues including-Introduction to mandate of the Commission under the Protection of Human Right Act, 1993 (Amended Act, 2006); judicial pronouncements and Economic, Social and Cultural Rights; Economic, Social and Cultural Rights including Child Labour, bonded Labour & Mental health issues, disability issues; Judiciary and the NHRC: Complementarity of roles; Role of NHRC in the UN System; Custodial Justice and Human Rights and Demonstration of the working of the Complaint Management System (CMS) of the Commission. During the two-day attachment the participants interacted with the Chairperson, Members and Senior officials of the Commission.
This was the Second batch of IFS probationers' attachment with the Commission.
