Rupees 5 lakhs compensation in a case of death in fake encounter in Chhattisgarh

Aman Khan allegedly died in a fake police encounter in Jagdalpur, Chhattisgarh on the 26th June, 2006. His brother filed a complaint in the Commission. On consideration of the material on record, the Commission observed that the inquest and post-mortem reports revealed number of injuries caused by fire arms. The theory of genuine encounter by the police was not found convincing. Therefore, it was recommended that the Government of Chhattisgarh pay monetary relief of rupees five lakhs to the next of kin of the deceased.
