The Commission received a complaint from Mrs. Shamshad Bi alleging that her son Javed Miya Sheikh was killed by the police in a fake encounter at Khambalpata Road, Dombiwali, in Mumbai, Maharashtra on the 26th February, 2002. The Commission on consideration of reports recommended that the Maharashtra Government pay Rs. 5 lakh to the next of kin of deceased. The Commission also sought a compliance report along with a proof of payment.
