Rupees Five lakhs monetary relief to a severely injured boy in a train accident

Master Samar Singh, aged 12 years sustained severe injuries and lost his right hand and leg when he was pushed from the Geetanjali Express by a TTE, Navneet Mishra. The incident happened on the 2nd July, 2008 in Orissa. The boy was serving voluntarily as a sweeper on the train.
The Commission took up the matter on a complaint filed by Mr. Ramesh Kumar Mandal. Keeping in view the facts and circumstances of the matter, the Commission found it a case of gross violation of the human right of the victim, and recommended that the Railway Board pay rupees five lakhs as monetary relief to Master Samar Singh.
