Sir,

The Internship Programme, which has commenced from the year 1998, is an annual feature being held during summer vacations in the Universities.

2. It has been decided to hold this year's "Summer Internship Programme 2006" from 15.5.2006 to 14.6.2006. This time it would be open for students pursuing studies in Law, Political Science, Sociology, Criminology, and PG Diploma in Human Rights from Universities of located in Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, Tripura, Jammu & Kashmir, Orissa, UT of Pondicherry, Punjab and Rajasthan. The details regarding eligibility may be seen at Annexure-I.

3. The selected Interns would get an opportunity to work in different areas of Human Rights Issues, including participation in the review of Programmes of the ongoing projects in the Commission. They will also get an opportunity to have interaction with legal luminaries, representatives of reputed NGOs as well as other Commissions situated in Delhi. 5. The students will have to make their own arrangement regarding accommodation and transport at Delhi. Since the cost of living in Delhi is quite high, it is advisable that applications of only those students who would be in a position to make their own arrangements for stay and transport at Delhi be forwarded.

6. Requests for leave (including for appearing in examinations) will not be entertained. The internship is liable to be terminated in case of unauthorised absence.
