Media reports prove quite useful for the Commission's quest in ensuring promotion and protection of human rights. As in the past, the Commission took suo motu cognizance in seven cases of reported human rights violations on the basis of media reports during the month of September, 2009 and issued notices to the concerned authorities calling for their reports in the matters.
