The Commission took suo motu cognizance of media reports that on 18th June, 2009 two constables of the Government Railway Police (GRP) pushed a pregnant woman along with her three year old daughter from a moving train as she failed to pay them a bribe of one hundred rupees for travelling without ticket in the Mallani-Gonda passenger train. She died on the spot. Considering this as a serious issue of human rights violation, the Commission issued a notice to the Inspector General of Police, Railways, Lucknow calling for a report in the matter.
