Three lakh rupees monetary relief in a case of death in police custody

Inder alias Bengali was apprehended by local police in Trilok Puri area of Delhi on 5th October, 2006. He was booked under Section 25 of Arms Act and lodged in the lockup of police station Mayur Vihar. On the next morning he was seen lying unconscious in the lockup and eventually died at Lal Bahadur Hospital, Khichripur. On consideration of various reports the Commission found that Inder was severely beaten by the police which led to his death and recommended that the Delhi Government pay three lakh rupees as monetary relief to the next of kin.
