Manisha, aged 40 years, was shot dead in an encounter by the local police within the jurisdiction of police station Tajganj in Agra, Uttar Pradesh on 8th September, 2000. On consideration of reports the Commission found that the police version was fabricated and the encounter was fake, and recommended a monetary relief of three lakh rupees to the next of kin.
