Training programme for elimination of bonded and child labour
Mr. A.K. Parashar, Joint Registrar (Law) addressed a day long training programme on 'Elimination of Bonded and Child Labour' organized by the Janta Kalyan Samiti, Jhajjar, Haryana on the 31st January, 2012. He informed the participants about the functioning of the Commission and its continued efforts towards the eradication of the bonded labour system in the country. He also explained to them the provisions of the 'Bonded Labour System Act 1976', 'SC/ST (Prevention of atrocities) Act 1989' and the centrally sponsored scheme for rehabilitation of bonded labourers. Mr. Parashar emphasized that the maintenance of proper records on engagement of labourers and payments made to them is compulsory by any industry.
The meeting was attended by senior functionaries of the District Administration (Labour, Police, Social Services and others) including Deputy Commissioner, Jhajjar, Brick Kiln owners and others. Mr. R.N. Mahlawat, President, Janta Kalyan Samiti, Jhajjar, Haryana also highlighted the problems related to bonded labour and the need to eradicate it with cooperation of all the stakeholders.
