Training of trainers on empowering of women and village development

The National Human Rights Commission organized a three-day Training of Trainers programme on "Empowerment of Women and Village Development" at Block Dataganj, District Budaun, Uttar Pradesh from the 18th-20th March, 2012. The aim of the training programme was to train school teachers and college professors as well as students pursuing higher education as master trainers in human rights so that they could supplement the NHRC's efforts in spreading awareness among school children on various aspects of human rights including the rights of women and the girl child.
About 130 participants attended the training programme. In addition to women's empowerment and need for human rights education, the participants were also sensitized about the need for promoting the panchayati raj system and rural development. They were also briefed in detail about various aspects of the NHRC and its functioning, including its complaint redressal mechanism and on its efforts towards the protection and promotion of human rights, particularly issues like gender equality and women empowerment.
Mr. A.K. Parashar, Joint Registrar (Law), Dr. Savita Bhakhry, Deputy Secretary (Research) and Mr. Nishith, Assistant (Research) from NHRC addressed the participants during the training programme.
