Training of Trainers Programme on 'Gender Sensitization'

The National Human Rights Commission organised a three day Training of Trainers Programme on 'Gender Sensitization' in collaboration with the Karnataka Police Academy, UN Women Multi-Country Office and Centre for Social Research at Karnataka Police Academy, Mysuru from the 5th to 7th May, 2015.
Inaugurating the programme, Justice Shri K.G. Balakrishnan, Chairperson, NHRC said that gender sensitization would remain a myth unless women were empowered. He said that there were no deficiencies in the laws meant for the protection of the rights of women but the problem was with their implementation. He said that they also need to be aware of the Article 166 of the IPC which punishes a public servant for disobeying the law.
