Two lakh rupees monetary relief in a case of death in police custody

Lallan Shah died in police custody while on his way to a court in Sasaram, Bihar on the 14th May, 2003. The Commission found that he was assaulted by Kharag Pasi and others in the presence of the police, which also did not provide him medical care afterwards. The NHRC held Anwar Suleman, the ASI of PS Dinara, guilty, and asked the Bihar government to pay two lakh rupees as monetary relief to the deceased's next of kin.
