A seven members delegation from the UK Liberal Democratic Party Friends of India Group visited NHRC on the 29th September, 2009. The delegation was headed by the Rt. Hon John Thomas Alderdice, a former Speaker of the Northern Ireland Assembly. A presentation on the constitution, functions and activities of the Commission was made for the delegates. This was followed by an interactive session. The issues relating to equality and equity, disability, discrimination, women empowerment, health care, mental health, position of the scheduled castes, sexual discrimination, working of the Commission etc. were discussed. The delegates also shared views regarding functioning of the human rights institution in Britain.
