Media reported on the 13th July that 151 prospective brides were forced to undergo virginity test before solemnization of their marriage under a mass wedding programme organized by the Madhya Pradesh Government in Shahdol on the 26th June, 2009. Considering it as a serious issue of violation of human rights of the victims, the Commission on the 17th July, issued a notice to the Chief Secretary, Madhya Pradesh calling for a factual report.
