Visit of delegates from National Human Rights Commissions of Mongolia and Nepal
Delegates from the National Human Rights Commissions of Mongolia and Nepal were on a study tour of the National Human Rights Commission of India from 6-9 November 2002.
The Mongolian delegation comprised two members -- Mr. Suren Tserendorj, Chief Commissioner and Ms. Batchuluun Khishigsaikhan, Executive Director. The delegates from Nepal were Mr. Kedar Poudel, Secretary, Mr. Bipin Adhikari, Special Advisor; Mr. Dipak Karki, Legislative Division and Mr. Kosh Raj Neupane, Legislative Division of the Human Rights Commission of Nepal.
During the course of the visit, the delegates interacted with the Chairperson and Members, the Secretary General and senior officers of the Commission. They were briefed about the working of the Commission, the bonded/child labour situation in India, the research projects undertaken by the NHRC, the working of the Investigation Division, and the computerization programme taken-up by the Commission. Discussions were, in particular, held on the subject of trafficking in women and children. They also visited some non-governmental organizations to study their working.
