Winter internship programme concludes
A month-long 12th winter internship programme on human rights organized by the National Human Rights Commission concluded in New Delhi on the 1st February, 2012. Mr. Justice K.G. Balakrishnan, Chairperson, NHRC congratulated the interns and expressed the hope that they would utilize their knowledge for the protection and promotion of human rights. 48 out of 50 students selected from different institutions and universities from 19 States attended the internship programme, which commenced on the 3rd January, 2012.
The best intern award was shared by four interns -- Mr. Sundeep Kashyap Das, Mr. Abhinav Jaganathan, Ms. Shruthi Prabhakar and Ms. Bhumika Mukesh Modh. They received cash prizes of Rs. 2500/- each from the Chairperson.
During the programme the interns were exposed to the composition, role and functions of the National Human Rights Commission, and also sensitized on various human rights issues.
