A one-day sensitizaion workshop for the Jail Superintendents of Tripura was conducted by Shri Chaman Lal, Special Rapporteur, NHRC at Agartala on 24 March 2006. The workshop was inaugurated by Shri R.K. Mathur, Chief Secretary, Tripura and was attended by Jail Superintendents or Jailors of all the 11 jails of Tripura. Besides apprising the Jail officials about their human rights objectives towards prisoners, the workshop proved useful in removing some of their doubts and misgivings about the Commission. It also provided them an opportunity to project the difficulties and hardships of their working and living conditions.
