Workshop on Bonded Labour and Child Labour
The National Human Rights Commission is organizing a two-day Sensitization Workshop for field-level functionaries on bonded and child labour issues at Bangalore on 9 - 10 October in partnership with the Government of Karnataka.
The relevant legislations and case law, the working of centrally sponsored schemes, future plan of action and road map on child labour and convergence of schemes are proposed to be taken up for in-depth discussion. In addition, there is a panel discussion on these aspects by NGOs followed by feedback from field functionaries.
Senior officials from the Union Ministry of Labour, officials from the Department of Women & Child Development, Labour, Education, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj and field-level functionaries of the Government of Karnataka and NGOs are participating in the workshop being organized at the National Law School of India University, Bangalore.
Dr. Justice A.S. Anand, Chairperson, NHRC will inaugurate the Workshop while the Minister for Home and Minor Irrigation, Karnataka, Shri M. Mallikarjuna Kharge will deliver the Presidential Address. The Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Shri M.Y. Ghorpade and the Minister for Labour, Government of Karnataka, Shri Qamarul Islam will participate in the inaugural session.
