Training Division

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), established under the Protection of Human Rights Act, 1993, remains unwavering in its commitment to safeguarding and promoting human rights across India. The Act mandates the Commission to disseminate human rights knowledge widely and raise awareness about the protections available through diverse platforms such as publications, media engagement, collaborative training, internships, seminars, and other appropriate channels.

To effectively fulfill this mandate, the NHRC has established a dedicated Training Division. This Division undertakes the task of inculcating human rights values among the people through a comprehensive stream of initiatives, including training programs in collaboration with educational institutions, government bodies, civil society organizations, and non-governmental organizations.

The Division's activities encompass collaborative training programs, moot court competitions, conferences, seminars, workshops, educational visits, and internships for students. Additionally, it conducts in-house sensitization and capacity-building programs for its officials and staff.

In the preceding years, the Commission made significant steps in Human Rights education and awareness including conducting multiple four-week (in-person) internships and online short-term internships, benefiting over thousands of participants. Furthermore, various successful moot court competitions were organized, along with hundreds of collaborative training programs with different educational institutes, NGOs and government training institutes. A number of flagship programs in partnership with the Indian Law Institute were also organized.  Numerous educational visit were also facilitated.

Building upon the accomplishments of the previous years, the Commission is committed to expand its efforts in the current financial year. A comprehensive series of collaborative training programs, moot court competitions, conferences, seminars, workshops, educational visits, and internships is being planned to further advance the cause of human rights.
