NHRC SSP, Mr. Anupam Sharma gets Police Medal for Meritorious Services

Mr. Anupam Sharma, Senior Superintendent of Police, posted in the Investigation Division of the National Human Rights Commission, NHRC, India has been chosen for the Police Medal for Meritorious Services on the occasion of Independence Day, 2022.
Mr. Sharma is an IPS of Himachal Pradesh cadre and joined the Commission on deputation on 7th June, 2021. Within a short span of his service in the Commission, he has very significantly contributed to the enquiries conducted by the Investigation Division in various cases of human rights violations, including deaths in custody and encounter.
He, as a supervisory head of teams of the Commission, successfully contributed to the Post Poll Violence Enquiry in different districts of West Bengal on the directions of the High Court of Calcutta to the NHRC. He also conducted spot enquiries in Uttar Pradesh related to the alleged atrocities of police on the CAA protestors in a very professional manner, besides carrying out several other responsibilities. He headed the COVID Emergency Cell of the NHRC to extend help to the colleagues infected with COVID.
Prior to joining the Commission, he has handled the posts of Deputy Superintendent and Superintendent of Police in different districts of Himachal Pradesh, besides handling several important assignments, including supervising the security arrangements for VVIP visits.
