28th Annual General Meeting and Biennial Conference of the APF of NHRIs

The National Human Rights Commission of India (NHRC) will be hosting the 28th APF Annual Meeting and Biennial Conference. It will bring together the APF member institutions, as well as representatives from governments, civil society, UN agencies and other relevant stakeholders. During the meeting, APF Members will discuss issues of mutual interests, as well as a range of APF business-related issues.

The event will also include the APF Biennial Conference on 21st September marking the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration on Human Rights (UDHR) and 30th anniversary of Paris Principles. The conference will also discuss the sub-theme on Environment and Climate Change, which will provide an opportunity for APF members, civil society, government representatives, academics, and UN agencies from the Asia Pacific region to share good practices to support communities to respond to human rights impacted by damage to environment and a changing climate.

This event will be a testament to the growing importance of regional cooperation in addressing human rights concerns that often transcend national boundaries leading to policy improvements and legal reforms that positively impact and improve quality of lives of people especially the vulnerable groups, which needs special attention, like elderly persons, victims of trafficking, mentally ill, abandoned and homeless, thereby promoting and protecting the human rights in the Asia Pacific.
