Inauguration of A State of Art Seminar Hall in NHRC by Covid Warriors and Housekeeping staff



A Seminar Hall equipped with state of art facilities has been inaugurated in the National Human Rights Commission, NHRC, India. The hall was inaugurated by Mrs Vimla, an housekeeping staff; Mr R. N. Tyagi, Private Secretary, Mr. Mathew Kurien, Assistant, Covid warriors and Mr.Baldev Prasad, MTS.

The NHRC Chairperson, Mr. Justice Arun Mishra, Members, Mrs. Jyotika Kalra,Dr. D.M Mulay, Secretary General, Mr.Bimbadhar Pradhan and other senior officers and staff were also present.

Addressing the gathering, Mrs. Vimla said that it was a privilege for a contractual housekeeping staff to get this opportunity to inaugurate this Hall and share the dais with the Chairperson and Members of the Commission.

Mr. Baldev Prasad said that this event is in affirmation of the fact that the Commission gives due recognition to the rights of all human beings irrespective of their rank and status.

Mr. Mathew said that this day will remain his cherished memory because of his humanitarian gesture during Covid- 19 pandemic. Mr. R. N. Tyagi, said that this event will be remembered by each employee of the Commission and it has raised the hopes and expectations that their welfare issues will also be addressed and taken care of by the organization.

The Chairperson said that the decision was taken to emphasize that human rights are for all and do not vary according to the positions of the people. Their rights to dignity and equality need to be recognized, as they are contributing significantly for the sake of fellow human beings. He also recalled the services of Mr. Isam Singh, Dy SP, as a Covid warrior, who was not able to attend the function. Justice Mishra said that the Seminar Hall, equipped with the latest gadgets is a mile stone in the functioning of the Commission.

NHRC Members, Mrs. Jyotika Kalra and Dr D. M. Mulay, Secretary General, Mr. Bimbadhar Pradhan also shared their experiences and contributions of the employees during Covid Pandemic. It was appreciated by each dignitary that the Commission continued to work for the promotion and protection of human rights with its team of officers and staff during such challenging times.

Mrs Kalra said that her visits to the hospitals during the Pandemic were only an effort to assess the ground situation relating to the difficulties being faced by the health workers in particular and citizens in general.

Dr Mulay said that the Covid Pandemic taught all of us to stand up for the humanity and extend all possible help to those in distress during such unprecedented times.

Mr. Pradhan said that the Covid Pandemic was a test case of the resilience of each employee of the Commission and how best each one could support another human being during such difficult times while discharging one’s duties and responsibilities.

The Seminar Hall having a sitting capacity of 145 persons will help the NHRC to organize various conferences, workshops, seminars, meetings, training and internship programmes in an effective, efficient and seamless manner at a lesser cost in coming days.
