NHRC commissions research studies on the six key issues of human rights to be completed within a year

The National Human Rights Commission, NHRC, India, has commissioned research projects on six key issues of human rights. Out of this, one is to be completed in nine months and the five by the end of this year. The details are as follows-

1.The research project on “Inclusive Education of Persons with Disabilities in Punjab: Prospects and Challenges” has been entrusted to the Punjab University, Patiala (Punjab) with Dr. Kiran Kumari, Assistant Professor as the Principal Investigator. The total duration of the research project including submission of the final report is 9 months.

2. The research project on “Food and Nutritional Security among Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes: Evidences from three Indian States” has been entrusted to the Central University of Himachal Pradesh with Dr. Amit Kumar Basantaray as Principal Investigator and Dr Indervir Singh as the Co-Investigator.

3. The research project titled ‘Study on the extent of cyber exploitation and safety of children in Kerala’ has been entrusted to Bharata Mata College, Kochi with Dr. Elsa Mary Jacob, Assistant Professor, as the Principal Investigator of the project.

4. The research project titled ‘Substance Abuse and Mental Health Issue among the LGBT Community in India: A Study of Inter-Relationship between Mental Health Disorders and Stress, Coping, Perceived Social Support, Occupation and Religiosity’ has been entrusted to AIIMS, Bhubaneshwar, with Dr. Susanta Kumar Padhy, Additional Professor and Head of Department, as the Principal Investigator of the project.

5. The research project titled ‘Women’s Falling Participation in Labour Force in India: A Ground Level Investigation into Factors and Obstacles in Bihar, Madhya Pradesh and Telangana’ has been entrusted to BITS Pilani, Hyderabad, with Dr. Rishi Kumar, Assistant Professor, Department of Economics and Finance, as the Principal Investigator and Dr. Sudatta Banerjee, Assistant Professor and Head of the Deparment, and Dr. Archana Srivastava, Assistant Professor, Dr. Swati Alok, Assistant Professor, as the Co- Principal Investigators of the project.

6. The research project titled "Vulnerability, legal protection and work condition of Domestic workers” has been entrusted to Jagannath International Management School (JIMS), New Delhi.
