Full Commission Meeting

A meeting of the Full Commission took place on 30 July 1999. It was attended by Mr.Justice M.N.Venkatachaliah, Chairperson, Dr. Justice K. Ramaswamy, Member Shri Sudarshan Agarwal, Member, Shri Virendra Dayal, Member, Smt. Vibha Parthasarathy, Chairperson, National Commission for Women & Member, NHRC and Shri Dileep Singh Bhuria, Chairperson, National Commission for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes & Member, NHRC.

The issues that came for discussion were the monitoring of the mental hospitals at Agra, Ranchi and Gwalior and the protective home at Agra, abolition of bonded labour, prohibition of employment of children below the age of 14 years as domestic servants by the Government servants, abolition of manual scavenging, the plight of rabies infected patients, the model autopsy form – model minimum-kit for autopsy and the health check-up of prisoners. Projects of the Commission relating to the prevalence of iron deficiency and the related health problems, quality assurance in mental hospitals, and the application of forensic science in the administration of criminal justice also came up for discussion.
