Commission bids farewell to Justice M.N. Venkatachaliah

The Members and staff of the Commission bid an emotional farewell to the outgoing Chairperson of the Commission Mr.Justice M.N. Venkatachaliah in New Delhi on 22 October 1999. Justice Venkatachaliah, who joined the Commission on 26 November 1996, demitted office on 24 October 1999.

At a function which was attended by the Members and the entire staff of the Commission, glowing tributes were paid to Mr. Justice Venkatachaliah for his contribution to the cause of human rights in the country. In his response, the out-going Chairperson thanked all present for their excellent team effort and for their devotion to the promotion of a culture of human rights in the country. He exhorted them to continue to work with renewed vigour and commitment.
