Study Trip of NHRC Rwanda Team



A three member team led by Mr. Kayumba Deogratias, Vice President, National Human Rights Commission of Rwanda visited National Human Rights Commission India on a Study trip from March, 31st. Other members of the team were Ms. Mayira Gerard, IT Officer and Mrs. Bugenimana Casidle, Chief Secretariat. During their 10-day study trip the team members got a first hand knowledge of the working of the Commission. They interacted with senior officials of the Law Division, Investigation Division and Training Division. The team attended the sitting of the Full Commission followed by a meeting with the Chairperson Justice Shri S. Rajendra Babu. Mr. Kayumba Deogratias, expressed the view that there should be frequent exchange of officers between the Human Rights Commissions of the two countries. The Chairperson, NHRC assured the delegation that all possible opportunities would be explored for this purpose
The Members of the team also called on Justice Shri Y. Bhaskar Rao and Shri P.C. Sharma, Members, NHRC. They were also explained how NHRC was handling complaints through computerized Complaints Management System.
As a part of the study trip, the Rwandan team also visited the Supreme Court/Delhi High Court, Tihar Jail, Punjab State Human Rights Commission, National Commission for Women, National Commission for Scheduled Castes and called on the Chairperson and Members of National Commission for Minorities.
