Minors' beating by police in Noida, Uttar Pradesh<br> (Case no. 36841/24/30/09-10/UC)<br>

Media carried reports on the 4th December, 2009 alleging that two minors named Radha Mishra and Munna of 9 and 12 years respectively were roaming around a car which was parked in Sector 11 of Noida, UP on the 14th November, 2009. The owner of the car, Kamal Kant Tyagi, found that his bag was missing from the car. On apprehension, he accosted and thrashed those children, and also called the police. The police reportedly took the two kids to Jhundpura police post in sector 11, Noida. There also, they were beaten with their hands tied with ropes. However, later on, it was discovered that Tyagi's bag was lying inside his car only under the seats. Taking suo motu cognizance of the media reports, the Commission issued a notice to the SSP, Gautambudha Nagar, UP, calling for a factual report in the matter.
