Severe beating of a boy by the RPF personnel<br> (Case No. 6153/24/56/2011)<br>

Media carried a report alleging that the constables of the Railway Protection Force, RPF, caught a boy while he was illegally selling water bottles on the Moradabad railway station in Uttar Pradesh. The boy, aged 12 years, was so severely beaten up by them that he lost consciousness. It was chilly winter of December, still the RPF constables mercilessly dragged him naked on the platform.
Taking suo motu cognizance of the media report, the Commission observed on the 28th February, 2011 that if the contents therein are true, then it raises serious issue of violation of human rights of the child.
Calling for action taken reports in the matter from the Director General, RPF and Superintendant of Police (GRP), Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, the Commission ordered that the copies of the media report be transmitted to them.
