Honorary Doctorate to NHRC Member, Justice Shri Cyriac Joseph

The Karunya University, Coimbatore (Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences), Tamil Nadu has conferred on Justice Shri Cyriac Joseph, Member, National Human Rights Commission and former Judge, Supreme Court of India, the degree of DOCTOR OF LETTERS (HONORIS CAUSA) at the Eighth Convocation of the University held on 29th June, 2013. The Honorary Doctorate has been conferred on Justice Cyriac Joseph in recognition of his services as a Judge of the High Courts of Kerala, Delhi, Uttarakhand and Karnataka and also the Supreme Court of India.

In the Citation presented to Justice Shri Cyriac Joseph, the University has commended his contributions to the cause of justice, sustainable development, Christian higher education and rights of the minorities. The Citation also refers to his social commitment and leadership qualities and his significant contributions in the field of judicial reforms. The Citation also quoted a former Chief Justice of India describing Justice Shri Cyriac Joseph as “a deeply religious person with a secular outlook”.
