3. CGHS case <br>
The Commission has asked for comments from Secretary, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and Director General, Health Services on a news report, which said that Central Government pensioners at Noida are supplied medicines 8 to 10 days after they have been indented. Taking suo-motu cognizance of a media report the Commission observed that the contents, if true, raise serious issue of violation of right to health.
The press report had also said that the medicines were in short supply. According to the Secretary, Central Government Pensioners' Welfare Association, the CGHS authorities had appointed a chemist based in Ashok Vihar, New Delhi making it difficult for old and sick pensioners to travel far to get the urgent medicines. The report further highlighted that retired MPs were getting medicines on top priority on the same day following arrangements made by the Additional Director.
