6. Two Pak boys languishing in Rajasthan jail to be repatriated



Two young Pakistani boys presently lodged in a jail in the State of Rajasthan will be repatriated to their country. This assurance has been given by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India after the National Human Rights Commission took up the case on receiving a petition from Ms. Asma Jahangir, AGHS Legal Aid Cell, Lahore, Pakistan.
Ms. Asma Jahangir in her petition had alleged that Ikhlaq S/o Mohammed Ameer Bhatti and Mohammed Suleman S/o Mohammed Ismail Bhatti continue to be detained in the District Jail Ganganagar, Rajasthan even after having completed their term of imprisonment. Both residents of Hafizabad in Pakistan had crossed the border in August 2000. On receiving the petition, the NHRC sought reports from the Ministries of Home Affairs and External Affairs, Government of India, regarding the allegations. After exchange of correspondence a final report has now been received by the Commission in the matter from the Deputy Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs. It states that the two boys have been accepted for repatriation by the Pakistan Government. The Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India stated it has received their travel documents for endorsement of exit permission and the report discloses that the two Pakistani nationals would be repatriated to Pakistan immediately after receiving confirmation from the State Government of Rajasthan regarding their non-involvement in any other case.
