Mr. Justice G.P. Mathur, Member, NHRC on the 21st November, 2011 gave away prizes to the 18 winners of various competitions organized marking the Hindi Fortnight from the 1st -14th September, 2011 in the Commission. A total of 47 officers and staff participated in the competitions. Addressing the gathering, Justice Mathur highlighted the importance of Hindi in official and social communication and expressed the hope that the officers and the staff of the Commission should be encouraged to use Hindi in their official work. He also said that the award money given as incentives to the officers and staff for promotion of Hindi in their work needs to be enhanced. Dr. Rajiv Sharma, Secretary General, NHRC, agreeing with the suggestions of Justice Mathur, announced that the prize money in all the categories of various competitions will be increased from the next year.
