Dr. Justice Shivaraj V.Patil appointed acting Chairperson of NHRC

New Delhi, November 23, 2006
Dr. Justice Shivaraj V.Patil has been appointed as the acting Chairperson of National Human Rights Commission. A notification issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs said that the President, under section 7(1) of the Protection of Human Rights Act, 1993, is pleased to authorize Justice Shri Shivaraj V.Patil, Member, NHRC to act as the Chairperson of the Commission w.e.f. 1st November, 2006 until the appointment of a new Chairperson.
