Dr. Rajiv Sharma joins as Secretary General, NHRC<br>

Dr. Rajiv Sharma assumed charge of Secretary General, National Human Rights Commission on the 30th May, 2011. He is a 1976 batch IAS officer of the Rajasthan Cadre. Prior to his appointment to NHRC, he was holding the post of Additional Chief Secretary to the Government of Rajasthan and Principal Resident Commissioner, Rajasthan in New Delhi.
As an officer, Dr. Sharma has gained cross-institutional exposure to public policy, administration and development issues. His assignments include field postings such as that of District Magistrate/Collector, Head of Public Sector Undertakings, Departmental Head in the State Government, Senior Administrative and policy planning positions in key Central Ministries such as Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Coal. He has also gained a 'ring-side' view into economic management and international cooperation as well as in development issues such as sustainable livelihood and sustainable development.
