Justice Shri Y. Bhaskar Rao assumes charge as Member, NHRC New Delhi, 10 October 2003

The former Chief Justice of the Karnataka High Court, Justice Shri Y. Bhaskar Rao today assumed charge as Member, National Human Rights Commission.
In 1964, he started his practice as an advocate in the High Court of Andhra Pradesh and was appointed as the Additional Public Prosecutor of Andhra Pradesh in July 1977. He was appointed as a Permanent Judge of the Andhra Pradesh High Court in July 1986 and was later transferred to the Karnataka High Court in November 1997. He was appointed as the Chief Justice of Karnataka High Court on 9 March 1999, which position he held till his retirement on 26 June 2000.
