Medical negligence at LNJP Hospital, Delhi

Sahana experienced acute pain in her leg as a needle pierced through it. Despite three visits to the LNJP Hospital in Delhi, the doctors did not provide her relief from pain. Sahana was not financially in a position to get herself treated at a private hospital. Finally, on the 27th March, an NGO came to her help and she was operated at a private hospital in Delhi. The Commission, while taking suo motu cognizance of a press report on her plight, held that, if true, this was a serious issue of violation of human rights of the patient and asked the Superintendent of the hospital on the 9th April to submit a factual report within four weeks.
