NHRC issues notice to DM & SP, Kaithal, Haryana on reports of dalits' forced exodus from their village by upper caste people.

The National Human Rights Commission has taken suo-motu cognizance of media reports alleging that more than 100 dalits were forced to flee from village Pabnama in district Kaithal, Haryana after being chased by upper caste goons. Their fault was that a dalit boy had dared to marry one upper caste girl of Rod community. Her community members attacked dalits on 13th April 2013 injuring 10 people including 7 policemen.

The Commission has issued notice to the District Magistrate and Superintendent of Police, Kaithal, Haryana calling for reports within four weeks.

Reportedly, the boy and the girl were in a relationship for the past 2 years and had tied the knot on 10th April 2013.
