NHRC Nepal delegation visits NHRC-India
A delegation of NHRC, Nepal comprising of Shri Yagya Prasad Adhikari, Regional Director and Sushri Durga Khadka, Deputy Director (Investigation & Monitoring) came to the NHRC, India from 4th to 8th March, 2013 on a study and exposure visit to gain skills and knowledge on working of the NHRC. The placement programme was jointly organised by the Asia Pacific Forum Secretariat and the British Embassy in Nepal. The main focus of the programme was NHRC India's Complaint Handling Management System and Investigation Processes.
During the visit, the delegation had fruitful interactions with Justice Shri K.G. Balakrishnan, Chairperson, Justice Shri B.C. Patel, Member, Shri Satyabrata Pal, Member, Dr. Ashok Sahu, Secretary General, Smt. Kanwaljit Deol, Director General (Investigation), Shri A.K. Shrivastava, Joint Secretary (P&A), Shri J.S. Kochher, Joint Secretary (Trg.), Shri A.K. Parashar, JR (Law) and Dr. Savita Bhakhry, Deputy Secretary (Research) about the functioning and activities of the Commission, International Cooperation Issues, training and research issues, Complaint Management System and Investigation Techniques.
On completion of the programme, the delegation felt that the programme was helpful in understanding the best practices of NHRC, India. They have suggested regular trainings by the investigators of NHRC, India to NHRC, Nepal, collaboration on the issue of trafficking in women and girls and sharing of best practices, as such.
