NHRC's Summer Internship Programme begins<br>



NHRC's month-long Summer Internship Programme started in New Delhi on the 27th May, 2013. 50 students from different universities/ colleges representing 15 States of the country are attending the programme. Inaugurating it, Dr. Ashok Sahu, Secretary General, NHRC said that this is a very prestigious course and hoped that the interns would make the best use of it and emerge as ambassadors of human rights which are mother of all rights. He also gave a brief description of the structure and activities of the Commission.
Shri A.K. Shrivastava, Joint Secretary (P&A), NHRC said that the interns should utilize this opportunity to get acquainted with basic human values, share experiences, read as much as possible about human rights and socio-economic issues and make best use of NHRC publications. Earlier, welcoming the interns, Shri J.S. Kochher, Joint Secretary (Trg.) said that they would be exposed to various human rights issues and laws, composition, role and functions of the Commission. Field visits to prisons and NGOs will also be organised. Dr. S.K. Jain, SRO (Trg.) and Shri Jaimini Kumar Srivastava, I&PRO were also present.
