NHRC's Winter Internship Programme begins

Justice Shri Cyriac Joseph, Acting Chairperson, NHRC inaugurated a month-long Winter Internship Programme of the Commission in New Delhi on the 21st
December, 2015. Giving an insight into the concept of human rights to the interns, he said that they should make best use of this opportunity to learn about various aspects relating to the promotion and protection of human rights. 49 students from different colleges/universities of 13 States/UTs have been selected for participation. They would be exposed to various human rights issues and laws, composition, role and function of the Commission. The interns would be guided to write dissertations on various issues and aspects of human rights. Field visits to prisons and NGOs would also be organised to give them a first-hand account of the functioning of such institutions.
