Order of the Commission

The Commission took suo-motu cognizance of a news item under the caption "Bajrang Dal raise `oust Christian’ cry" that appeared in the Times of India, New Delhi Edition on 23 June 2000.

A notice has been issued to the Chief Secretary, Government of Uttar Pradesh requiring him to file a reply within a week indicating therein the action, if any, taken thereon. The Commission observed that the contents of the news item are shocking and expressed the hope that the Government of UP would already been taken some action on it.
